I think I may be riding the Harley a bit further into winter this year!

Ok so what part of that is a BAD thing?

the bad part is that while I am riding the bike everyday enjoying the fall colors, the mice are shredding my firewall insulation and are busy storing a winters supply of acorns beneath the under hood insulation!! atleast that is what happened last fall

Don't get me started! :-{} #@$%!

This state takes everyone who drives a truck for granted. This is so the yuppies who enjoy there semi-moderately priced gas - can vote these lawmakers back into office.

This was done to balance the budget. Why don't you stop paying out welfare so loafers can get jobs! This is definetly the "Tax you to death state"

It has been proven in the past that truckers that drive through a state with high diesel taxes (or high prices at all) do not stop to fill up. Heck, they fill up a couple hundred gallons at a time and can drive through this puny state without even stopping for a pee! This in turn means they don't stop to buy a soda, a meal, anything! This means the sales tax revenue will suffer as well.

The only people who made out on this deal were the yuppies! :{

I'll get off my soapbox now.

Fuel Tax

It does not matter that they did not buy fuel in your state. When they file their IFTA return, They report all miles in every state, and if they did not buy fuel there, they have to pay the same amount of tax as if they did buy fuel there.

The only advantage to not buying fuel in a high tax state, is to find a station near the high tax state that sells fuel at a low enough price so that even after adding in the future "tax "bill, you still broke even, or even saved a penny or 2 a gallon.

I pay 1. 279 in ohio , I pay 1. 169 in ky. I am not saving 11 cents as it appears, but am saving only 7. 8 cents. (ohio . 22 at pump+. 03 surcharge=. 25; Ky . 12 at pump and . 052 surcharge)

The only way to avoid your states' high taxes is to totally avoid the state. That is highly unlikely

Close to D. C. the average is about $1. 50gal. #@$%!

30 miles outside of D. C. is about $1. 20gal. ;)

Now WHO is gettin' hosed?

You are quite right but, if all the truckers would drive through the state without stopping, the fuel stations would lose sales of fuel and food and sooner or later would feel the pinch.

Is this why Pennsylvania fuel prices on I-90 are so high compared to Ohio's? Even though there is just a mere 40 miles or so across Pa, many trucks stop and pay the high buck.

Ohio might be $1. 25 and Pa is $1. 45.

Other stations in Pa are not as high. I just think they have a gimmick going on 90 because of the short distance.

Every individual suffers when the Diesel prices sore whether TAXES or price gouging ..... It is criminal ... . From the cloths on your back, to the beer in your hand, and the shoes on your feet, came by diesel truck, one way or another ..... These additional cost will be passed on to the consumer... ... Diesel fuel should be half the price of petro, not only is it less harmful to the enviromint,it take considerable less crude to make... ... Politicians plan OLE SUCK... ... . Half the people in the USA work and pay taxes to support half the other population... ... Ridiculous...

$1. 39 @ the pump after AUG. 1 ,$1. 47 ... ..... Right now reg gas is less ... ... . You tell me how it could be????????What till heating season, and the winter blend comes out ,that will add at least anouther dime min..... We AMERICAN'S are suffering with the policy makers... ... sprinkle some mothballs around your garage edges to take care of the mice. you can also hang some bags of mothballs under your hood if you want to store it. Or, get a hungry cat and lock him in the garage.

Way back my "favorite" politician Mario Cuomo raised fuel taxes $. 10 a gallon. After that I always modified vehicles for more fuel capacity. Currently AERO 50 gallon replacement and Transfer flow 38 gallon spare tire. It is not much but it is a vote with my money. I fill up on my frequent trips to NJ on the way to visits. The only problem is both fuel tank vendors are in an even worse state than new york for the communists. Be nice if I could have supported the economy of texas or montana. Oh well.

Dont feal like the Lone Ranger, BVol, The State of Texas is thinking about raiseing our diesel tax up 15 cents a gallon, and gas tax 5 cents a gallon along with a few other fees going up too. I have got the lest but I need to get someone to type it for me because it would take me all night to do it !

I'm with you EMDDIESEL. I'll be in New York at work anyway, they take all my Income Tax, I deserve a break!

Didn't they lower the tax on fuel when prices were high? "Hey we're losing money, let's put that tax back!", sayth the politicians.

Ok cmckinney, I going to try to type it. I guess I was told wrong about the amount of the possible increases. I could of swore it was 5 cents on gas and 15 cents on diesel, but I read the article and this is what it said. The paper is call the Transportation News. -- Transportation commissioner John Johnson was invited to appear before the House Transportation Committee in March to outline funding options for needed mobility improvement projects. He made it clear that TX Dot was not endorsing any of the ideals, merely laying out possibilities. There are a number of potential options to fund the Texas Mobility Fund. These options can include only funds that are not currently dedicated by the constitution. for example, no motor fuel taxes and no vehicle registrations fees can be directed to the Texas Mobility Fund. Many existing transportation fees that do not currently go to fund transportation in the state could be dedicated to a specific revenue source such as the Texas Mobility Fund. Some of the funds which could be considered for the Texas Mobility Fund include the Motor Inspection Fee,the Special Vehicle Registration fee for Oversize/Overweight Vehicle, the Motor Rental Tax, the Motor Vehicle Sales and Use Tax. -- Increasing the base fee of a 2060 Permit to $2,000 would generate roughly $36 million for the State Highway Fund. this is something that could be considered for the Texas Mobility Fund. -- An increase of 1 cent to motor fuel( I guess he means gasoline )Tax rate would generate roughly $140 million each year for Texas, with around $120 million of this going to the State Highway Fund. Similarly, if the Diesel Fuel Tax were increased by 5 cents, approximately $141 million would be generated for the State with $106 million of that going to the State Highway Fund. These were excerpts from his remarks, to be continued in next month issues. ( there must be more )I wonder if he is sugessting for the price of Vehicle Inspection to go up? and Motor Use Tax? does he mean you truck tags? I wonder if he wants them to go up too? Driver License Fee?going up too? Who knows?
