Today my '01 HO 6spd with 113,594 miles passed with 7. 3% opacity reading out of a max limit of 40. 0%. The test type, according to the print out, was a "MSA (Diesel Snap)" and shows the number of "snaps" as 3. Also, the print out says "untestable on dyno". I watched (and listened!) as the guy revved the truck way up 3 times pausing after each time. For comparison, my last test 2 years ago at 80,005 miles, at another shop, it got a "LMD(Diesel Loaded)" test and showed 0% with an opacity limit of 20. 0%. That test was done on a dyno (I'm pretty sure!) and that print out also lists "rpm"1810, "horsepower" 15. 6 and "equiv test wt" 3875. Oh well, as I sit behind the wheel and drive, the truck feels and sounds the same to me as it always did. If the driver's door doesn't rust thru I still may be driving it in another 2 years when the next test is due! Next up,... ... ..... new tires.

All I know is if they do a snap test on my truck im in deep doo-doo:-laf

Last test they did it on the rollers at 15. 6hp and I passed with 2. something opacity.

Any idea why they couldnt get a reading on the Dyno?

Also what shop?

I had the test done at Hank May's Goodyear in Stamford. I didn't ask why but there was no dyno/rollers in the emission testing bay. The gas station/service shop where I had the test done in '05 no longer does emissions tests. I should also add that my truck is completely stock except for slightly larger(taller) tires.

I remember the first test it got back when the state still had the testing centers, the girl got in it and I could see thru the waiting area window as she stood on the pedal and the tach went passed 3,000! I told her afterwards that I had never(and still haven't) had the truck revved up that high. She told me she was "scared of it"! Oh, then after I drove away I noticed that $10 in quaters was missing from the cup holders.

I will have to make sure I go back to the same place in Bethlehem, they were real good, and didnt even mind I had a 4" straight pipe on there at the time. If they snap test mine, it will most likely cause the evacuation of there shop:D

as far as the quarters go, with seeing the dreg's of society they had working there, Im not surprised in the least...

yeah, I blamed myself!

Yeah I'm dreading when I have to go back for emissions. As far as I know they don't care where the exhaust comes out as long as you pass. I'll have to get a stock plate for mine and move it way back with those big honkin injectors in there.
