Met a fellow Ram'er at BMW today

Took the 2000 CTD thru the Connecticut Emissions test today. Got a pass, should have anyway, it's a stock truck. They tested for opacity, and did not check the OBD II port. They ran it on a Dyno nd pulled a whopping 18. 6 RWHP  out of it! Other than the test operator spinning the rear wheels trying to back it into the bay, smashing my door into the Computer terminal, and not letting me near the test, I guess it did not suck to bad. They still beat us out of $20. 00 for the right to drive here and pay through the nose to do so.

My advise to the Smokers, :-laf would be to make sure the boxes are set to "No Smoking", As I am not sure how much diesel knowalge the test operators have.

So CT has finally resurrected it's emissions testing? I thought it was all tied up in court? When/how do you get drawn in to be tested?

The last time I had an emmissions test, the guy got all ****** off. He complained that the test used special equipment that he had to drag across the bay, and that, "These diesels always pass anyway!" He rolled his eyes so hard, I thought the torque would make him flip.

I went thru almost 2 years ago before it was suspended that last time. Mines too old for the rollers, they did a snap test instead. (ideled it up to a whopping 1400 rpm)

My son went thru in his 94 without making any adjustments and passed easily.

And his truck makes much smoke during normal running.

I think that they got it out of court, but it's going to end up there again no dought  Wheaties, This place in Waterbury advertised for the diesels, so I didn't and shouldn't get any whining. They just smashed my door in to the Computer bench.

Any rate they aren't looking at the ODB II stuff, so if you throw a hat over the Drag Comp, and/or Bluechip and set the smoke to low, there should be no problem. Maybe throw in the RV 275's in place of the DD Showerheads. Back to work, Moose

Only $20? It's $37. 50 in Reno. Took mine in last week and got a 0. 0% opacity. Wow. I'm underwhelmed. Had to put the cat back on to pass the visual. I think the light diesel smogs are just a revenue source. I saw an older gasser right after I pulled out of the shop that put out more smoke in 20 seconds than I do in 20 days!

Just went through my emissions this morning. The guy said that he has never had one fail... even a ten wheeler with a burnt piston passed. In Mass, they test for opacity and are allowed 40. Forty what he could not say, it was an irrellavant number. Mine blew a 0. 6. the margin of error is +/- 1. 0.

In Mass, there are only a handful of places that can sniff the diesels. I am lucky in that there is a Mack repair facility down the road from my house.

Hey Jeff! How the hell are ya? When are you coming down to see the ranch?

CT used to have state run facilities, then they outsourced it and told us we would be notified when we had to be re-inspected under the new plan. Then there were questions about who got the outsource contract and whether they were up to state standards. The whole thing has been on hold for quite awhile now Oo.
