Change wheel size for better tires?

F250 Hot Shot Help

I can't find any information on this. and I am just trying to noodle out an idea.

I just ordered a 2016 3500 and it has the park view rear camera in the tailgate handle. It also has the Uconnect 8.4 W/Nav.

When I put my slide in camper on, I will remove the tailgate. Could I attach a camera to the back of the camper and wire it up with a pigtail that runs out near the tailgate
camera wire connection, so I could plug the new camera in and see the image on my truck's Uconnect screen?

I know I can get a wired or wireless rear view camera with it's own monitor/screen, but I want to avoid having to find space for another screen in the cab.

Would it be as simple as buying some aftermarket backup/security camera, and wiring on a plug that mates up with the truck wiring, or would the type of camera be critical? Any other considerations come to mind?

I guess I could buy the OEM backup camera and tailgate wire bundle, then modify it to mount on the camper... But I would rather find a less expensive (and likely better
designed) system.

Thoughts?

I put an OEM replacement camera in my back V-Box. Search for my "New Snoking Laramie" thread. I believe I listed the part numbers. You need two cables and the camera. Snoking

Then I found that I also needed this cable.

The cables got stripped down to just the leads I needed to attach the camera. They are other leads to operate the trail gate lock and other things..

BTW, the camera has to be tipped down a lot, or the guide lines on the screen float in the air!!!! Snoking

Thank you! I found the Ebay cam & wire bundle last night, but I am glad that you told me about the other w/b... I think this is not too bad. I was thinking I'd fab a w/b and buy an aftermarket
camera with a mount. but this seems a lot more "plug & play". I'll just have to fab up a camera mount and splice a little extra wire to get it up to the top of the camper. That should be easy.

You might want to look at this then.

There is a long cable available, I believe it may be plug and play with the extra cable I had to buy, as that is the one that plugs in below the trailgate.

So you would not buy the ebay item.

YOu would buy it this way.

Also, a 30ft. cable is available for purchase from Mopar. It is part number68239372AA.

Nice! Thanks, I'll check those out.

If you look under your truck, the cable that the tailgate plugs into is a 18" or so cable that plugs in by the corner of the frame and spare tire. That 30' cable might plug directly into the main harness down there and you would not need the extra cable out of the tailgate to hook things up.

I would buy the camera and 30' cable first and see if it plugs in there. With a camper that might be an easier place to work with anyway. SNOKING

Good idea. I just have to wait till I take delivery of my truck, then order the new camper... Lol. I am a little premature, I know. I just like to plan. And the OCD doesn't help either.
