Hi All,

Just a quick note: I bought and installed the Console Vault from Geno's a few weeks ago and am very happy with it. I was concerned it might waste space in the center console storage area but it is very well fitted, heavy guage steel and has a sturdy key lock. You just remove two factory screws, put it in, and secure with replacement screws. It is a tight fit and I used a rubber mallet to tap it into place.

I really enjoy being able to lock my Garmin GPS, cell phone, etc. in there when I'm away from the truck.

I searched around the net and Geno's had the best price and are always great to deal with anyway. It is pricey at $250 but I have been looking for something like this for a long time and haven't found anything as good. JMHO. ;)

PS: Not on the Geno's website, you have to ask for it.

Hi dualspt,

I sent you a PM. The OEM console stays put. You just remove two factory machine screws, slide in the vault and replace the OEM screws with those supplied. It fits inside the lower storage compartment.

The manufacturer is at www.consolevault.com

There are pictures there but they don't do the product justice. It is a slick looking product. With the compartment hatch up the vault lid is flush and has a metal crinkle finish. It is nicer than I though. My only complaint is the price. I wouldn't be surprised to see the price come down as more are sold.

Does it just mount inside the center console? Isn't that all just plastic? I bought a nice quick-opening combination pistol lock box, but can't figure out where to put it.

It fits inside the lower storage compartment. The lower compartment is a plastic box scewed to a steel frame. The ConsoleVault screws to the frame through the plastic box, if that makes any sense. The screw heads are inside the locked ConsoleVault so there is no access to them when it is closed. The lid is flush and the frame around that is metal. There is no visible space for prying.

I looked at how to get the vault out if I was a thief. I think you'd need to either use a crowbar and try to get under the vault and pry it off the frame and snap the bolts off or unbolt the whole center console assembly from the floor. Then take it somewhere else and cut it open. I'm not saying its impregnable. It's the best CCW container I've found so far that wasn't just bolting a safe to the deck.

I also looked at the mountable pistol boxes from GunVault and V-Line, etc. , but couldn't figure out where to put them either. I thought about the transmission hump in the front or rear but it looks bad and advertizes a gun. You can't see the ConsoleVault from outside the truck.

Since I am not competing with Geno's - I had a safe from my previous trucks and re-engineered to fit my 2004 RAM. I used 1/4" plate steel. Lock nuts are secured from inside the "safe"

Yellow arrows point to dummy screws - cut off and welded on bottom side.

"Valuables! are safer here than anywhere else in the truck.

Plenty of room for LARGE valuables also.

Very nice! That looks like a V-line safe.

Is it in the upper or lower console? If it is in the upper I may put one there too!

Slick..... !
