I have a 01 2500 auto and it has been pulling to the right for about 12,000 miles... I have had it to the local dealer several times and they have aligned it, swaped tires etc. . always telling me it was taken care of. Last week I took it to a Jone Elway dealership and they seemed to have it nailed and told me it is the steering control unit. They ordered one and replaced it. I thought that i was good to go... I was wrong!!! It is still pulling to the right causing me to have to hold the wheel about 15 degrees to the left so that it doesn't go in the ditch... . I have not had any other work done to the truck... ... . Do you guys think that the problem might be in the transfer case or a wheel bearing????

Thanks,

Bill

2001 2500 slt+ Auto... QC short bed. . A Pillar boost and egt. . plus many good bombs :)

Bill:

I would say to check the rear adj. With the 01 I guess you have the disc on the rear. We of lesser $$$$$$$ and have to hold onto the older trucks have that problem as most of the time it seems to be the rear shoes out of adj. . l I also found the factory specs. on front end adjustments are not always correct for each truck. Not all fronts ends live in a world where there is equality with other trucks. Most have a common problem but some have a paticular thing it needs. Just search and find yours.

lots of ideas...

Well, this subject has come up many times.

1. If it is a brake pull, look for the brake pad that is more worn than the rest.

2. Try driving in the oncoming lane to see of the pull changes.

3. Have a friend follow you to see if the truck is going down the road sideways. Don't laugh, as another member just posted that D-C has admitted his truck does go down the road crooked.

4. Search for posts on this subject as there is lots of info.

Good luck.

5 star my butt

Just got my truck back from Dodge for the 6th time for this reason. As mentioned earlier I am the one with the sideways rolling truck with a pull to the right. My truck has been alligned 4 times in the front. I was followed by my dad who told me my truck is dog tracking down the road, you can read the dodge emblem on the divers door. Been doing this i guess since new. I thought that was causing the pull. Wrong, after fighting with dodge ,my dealer(Crown Dodge in Ventura Ca. ) who told me everytime I went back it was fine. They finally admitted to me that the rear end was out of allignment 15/16 of an inch. Thats hard to miss especially after I told them that when I did my garage mech checks I got a 1/2" difference wheel base on driver side, etc, etc. Well they straightened that out so far, but now it still pulls to the right. They told me there is a TSB in progress for all 2001's that the ball joints are bad and need replaced, this is the same thing they told me when truck was new 15,000 miles ago. Apparently the ball joints that are on our trucks do not allow a cross caster adjustment. Sounds like a crock of **** to me. They told me Dodge is coming out with new ball joints to replace ours in the future, these are suppose to have offsets. If anybody else has heard of this nonsense let me know. Oh well sorry so long You'll hear more from me later. I feel like I'm being abused, but I love my truck. Dwayne:mad: :(

Pull to right?

Bill I have posted this at least four times , seems like some one at alignment at factory is doing some thing wrong , and some shops just can not get it right . See if your five star will let you take it to a heavey truck alignment shop , one like the Fire ,Garbage, School Bus , large Motor home vehicles are aligned , Here in Louisville KY DC could not lift my 3500 so they sent me to Toneys ,they do the heavy stuff . Fix it first time about one hour . Hope this helps . PS is your steering wheel on straight? Ron in Louisville KY:confused:    :D
