Contacted Cummins direct on the Broken connecting rod pushing out of my block and their reply is not their problem, Back in 88 Cummins and Dodge made an agreement, that Cummins had no responsibilty

in any Cummins motor installed into a Dodge truck,

all and any work would be the in the hands of Dodge only, do not contact Cummins?

Great that like usual its in the hands of the owner, I was trying to get them to find out why this happened and they are not even interested?

Any ideas and who may be interested in finding out why and if this may be a problem.

Need more info!

Have you torn that thing down yet? If so, describe what some of the broken parts, and associated parts look like. There's no way to be positively accurate about the cause but maybe we can give you some suggestions if you post some additional info.

Motor Problems!

They're going to cancell my subscription and I won't be able to post anymore so after you post more info, I'll contact you via Email with some suggestions.

HMMMmm - you list your trucks as '93's - so they would be WAYYyy out of any warranty - so I'm sorta curious as to what you were expecting from Cummins?

And yer RIGHT, Dodge is the primary responsible party for warranty work on ALL parts of vehicles purchased from them, INCLUDING the Cummins - and around HERE, even if you choose to take your truck to a Cummins shop and pay for service, they will INSIST on following Dodge recommended settings for the Cummins, even if BETTER settings are used in other applications...

Clarification please?

Racer Brown, you reference you're going to be "cancelled" . . . by whom? I am one of the owners, and I'm aware of no efforts to cancel your subscription. If there is a problem, please contact me personally at rpatton@ix.netcom.com. I am one of the owners of the TDR and am available to assist you if needed.

Motor is out and pulled down?

Removed motor from truck and tore it down, looks like on number 6 connecting rod, one bolt came loose, causing the bearing to spin welding itself

to the crankshaft and breaking the other bolt, launching the connecting rod to break the camshaft and punch a hole out of the block, losing major oil pressure, toasting my turbo and causing scoring on 2 pistons? 4 pistons are in great shape, looking like new, crankshaft is badly damaged on number 6, otherwise looking good.

I will be getting the crank looked at this week.

??????????

BUT.....

You still haven't answered the question - since this thread appears to be some sort of criticism aimed at Cummins, and since it APPEARS your truck/engine is FAR out of warranty, and SINCE the warranty would be Dodge's responsibility anyway - how do consider it is some sort of failing on Cummins part?

Perhaps you expected them (Cummins) to send a Cummins tech team out to personally inspect your (apparently) out of warranty engine? OR maybe send you a new engine and personal apology? OR perhaps replace your '93 truck with a NEW one as a gesture of goodwill?

Please excuse me if I appear insensitive to your problem, but some critical part of the equation seems to be missing from this thread, or I am just failing to recognize it...
