Lance Camper Rally April 4-7

Ordered My USGear OD today!

I have a (see Sig) that I installed a brake controller in today. I tapped into one of the wires coming off the brake pedal switch as per the instrcutions. Controller is working but my ABS and parking brake lights are coming on about 1/2 mile into any drive trailer or not. So I disconnected the controller but lights are still coming on. I am not sure if the two are related but where do most of you hook the switch wire in? Thanks for the help.

wrichards, If your truck has the towing package, there is another route you can go. There is a plug under the dash that has everything you need. Most RV places sell the other end that you wire to your controler. One note, the wires are the same color, but you can't just go red to red, white to white. The directions will show you whats up. The plug under the dash is light blue in color to the left side up near the parking brake bracket. It made mine a kind of plug and play type deal, very slick. Hope this helps.

Dan

P. S. The stealer also will "sell" you the plug, but they want their cash in small unmarked bills left in a wheel barrow.

Thanks Ill check for it tommorow Ive got all the other wires ran the way I want Soldered and shrink wrapped I just need to find where to splice in the brake switch.

You can also get the connector you need from your local U-Haul. They sell the connector for $5. 99 (I'm pretty sure) that has the same color wires as most brake controllers... unlike the non-matching colors that the Dodge wiring harness has. I've installed two brake controllers with the harnesses from U-haul with two different Tekonsha Sentinal controllers and I just matched up the colors. One controller was installed in my '99 Expedition and the other was on my buddy's '01. 5 Dodge 2500. My new Tekonsha Prodigy I just installed I used the OE harness that came with the truck...

If you decide to go to the stealer and get a OE harness, the wiring is as follows (Dodge has 2 harnesses that have different sets of wires... Here's both):

OE Harness #1... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... . Brake Control Wires

White w/Red Tracer... ... ... ... ... ... Black (+12 Volts)

Blue w/White Tracer... ... ... ... ..... Red (Stoplight)

Green w/Black Tracer... ... ... ... ... White (Ground)

Blue... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... Blue (Trailer Brakes)

OE Harness #2... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... . Brake Control Wires

Red w/Black Tracer... ... ... ... ... ... . Black (+12 Volts)

White w/Tan Tracer... ... ... ... ... ... Red (Stoplight)

Black... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ..... White (Ground)

Blue... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... . Blue (Trailer Brakes)
