My flatbed has recessed gooseneck ball,I am considering a fifth wheel RV trailer.I think Ive seen at least 3 ways to convert, any advice regarding right/wrong from people who have been there, done that?
I have used an anderson 5th wheel hitch for 4 years. They do have a sliding tube but not sure if they are suited for recessed ball or not. May not slide down enough to connect. Not sure if it's even designed for recessed ball.
Not sure what your budget for this is but might look into a B and W companion hitch for flatbeds. I don't know if they work with a recessed ball or not so you may have to contact them and ask. I have their whole turnover system in my pickup and a companion hitch I bought used from my dad. I borrowed his 5th wheel for a week long vacation and was really happy with how it worked.
I use the STAR PERFORMANCE Adapter. It has a glider motion. Used successfully for almost 10 years. Has 6 Grease Zerks to grease every 2K miles. Do have to re-tighten it about every other year due to America's very bad roads.
