Suggestions for towing with short bed/without slider hitch?

Need tire help on new 5'ver

Has anyone converted there 5er to Mor-ryde Independent Suspension and disc brakes? I have an Alpenlite 32 ft and am considering converting. If anyone has converted, was it worth it? Any down side?

I looked into it last year, but decided it wasn't worth the cost($4000-$5000). I just went with new stock axles complete with new brakes for less than 1/3 the cost, since in the next year or two we will probably get a new 5er.

I haven't looked at a Mor-Ryde for a while, but they used to space the axles farther apart that the leaf spring suspension. That could make for some MAJOR clearance problems!!!

Before I would spend $4000-5000 on a suspension modification, I would consider trading the existing trailer for one with what you want!

A good compromise for a better ride is the Mor-Ryde RE suspension. It's much less expensive and made a big difference on our trailer.

I have an appointment at Mor Ryde in October to pull my OE axles and drums, and install their IS system and disk brakes.

I travel in Mexico and need more wheel travel. Mor Ryde gives 5 1/2" of travel v/s 2. 5 for springs.

I can hardly wait

CBrittan, I would like to hear from you after the installation. Hope you have a great result.

Thanks to all who responded.

Yes I had my 5th wheel changed over to full Mor/ryde,raised the trailer 3in,and,I would do it again. The change is well worth it. Things stay put in the trailer and the ride is great. What can I say Mor/ryde is well worth the money.

Clem, thanks for responding. Did you also get the disc brakes and did you get the Mor-ryde Independent Suspension? Did raising the suspension in combination with the Mor-ryde cause any problems by raising the center of gravity? Again, thanks for your response.

My 5th wheel came from the factory with the Mor/ryde suspension. Oct 2004 we had the disc brakes and neverRlube hubs put on. Plus the rubber suspension of dually. The disc brakes are awsome. The trailer will stop itself - don't have to worry about the drums getting hot. I have tried to get the discs hot coming into a rest area and they just won't! Plus I don't have to pull the wheels every year for lube of bearings. If you can afford it, it is a good upgrade. If you are thinking of trading soon I would not. This is a long term investment.
