Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) conversion

does any body know where you can get a automatic kit, transmission tcm shifter etc,etc,i want to get rid of my six speed and install an auto.

Chances are, if you ask/look around, you may be able to find someone who wants the opposite of you (Auto to 6 speed). Your going to need to fill out a signature though so people can see what you have. Good luck



As for an answer to your question, I have no idea where you can get a 'kit' per say, I believe a lot of people kind of piece it together.

ATS offers a kit. I am not an ATS fan, and have not used thier kit so I can't say good or bad.

I am looking to do the same thing in my 99 but I am going to use Suncoast trans with manual valve body and their computer to control lockup and shift points. Call and talk to Ron at SC for more info.

Man, if only some of ya'll were a little closer to Central Illinois. I'd love to get rid of that auto transmission in my truck and replace it with a manual.

i have a signature its just not showing up i have a 2000 2500 4x4,6 spped with center force dfx clutch,ddp stage 3 injectors,glacier fuel pump, edge comp box with hot loads,afe air filter,gauges,4 inch skyjacker lift with 35inch procomo wheels and tires,and a 4 inch exhaust from turbo back

dodgeram00# I am in Great Falls Mt. I think we're only about 500 mi apart. I have a 98. 5 with auto and really want to get rid of it for a 6 spd. My truck has just over the 200k mark for miles but the guy I bought it from said the trany had been done less than 50,000 miles prior. It doesn't have any issues right now. I have the facilities to do the swap if you we're interested. Is yours a SWB so we could swap the drivelines too? Let me know if you're interested. Thanks

i think that would be a lot of work,wouldn't mind finding a wrecked dodge or a straight across or close trade,i need a long box. im very interested in getting an auto though,i will send you an email

I too live fairly close to you and wouldnt mind switching to a six speed. My 98. 5 has some miles on it 234k but it's been almost all interstate miles, my auto has no leaks or even any damp spots. I'm about 15 miles north of Chester MT in the Sweet Grass Hills area.
