What Causes A Converter To Drain Overnight? I Know Its Normal For It To Happen After Setting For Several Days. I Had transmission Rebuilt 6 Months Ago It Has About 13,000 On The Rebuild. Couple Weeks Ago I Noticed When Starting In The Morning It Didnt Wanna Move But After A Few Seconds It Would Take Right Off And Run Fine. So I Started Checking The Fluid Before Morning Start And Sure Enough Its 2 To 3 Quarts Full Every Morning. Just Wandered What Causes This Thanks.

IIRC, there is a spring loaded popit ball (check valve) in one of the lines to/from the trans cooler... the spring fails and lets the converter drain back... some people remove it for more oil flow...

I Think The Guy Did Remove It When He Rebuilt It But Why Would It Wait 13,000 Miles To Start Doing It ???????? Puzzling

If it just started doing it, I doubt he actually removed it...

I Cant Say For Sure But He Did Tell Me He Had To Remove It Because The Line Plugged There When The transmission Came Apart Last Time He Said It Was Plugged Bad Enough That His Machine Couldnt Flush The Line.

If that was the case, I would have replaced everything related to the transmission cooling system... there is a good chance flushing it wouldn't have gotten all the garbage out...

He might have removed it, and reinstalled it... that check ball is the only thing I know of in the dodge transmission that will keep it from draining the converter...
