Be very careful with lock-up switches

This is my experience with T/C lockup switches. If you are not 100% alert and I mean 100%, all the time that your T/C is locked up don't use a switch that is an off/on switch. The time will come that you are driving along a mountain road in 3rd gear, T/C locked up and see a beautiful turn out. You pull in and forget to unlock the T/C... . bad stuff happens. It doesn't take to many of those, "damn I forgot to unlock the T/C" before you have distroyed it.

I bought a Smart Controler from DTT and removed my lock up switch. I did however come up with a way not to forget to unlock the T/C. I installed a momentary switch on the plastic kick panel just to the left of your left foot. I had to hold my foot on the switch which was a sideways push, but it made it almost impossible to screw up and grind to a stop with the T/C locked up.

I plan to re-install the discribed switch as the Smart Controler will not allow me to be locked up in low range. That is a rare occurance when I feel a need to be locked up in low range, but there are a few of those 28% twisty grades in this beautiful country of ours.

Good luck

Arlan
