I can't find a wiring diagram for a 3 way switch so I can also keep the converter unlocked when necessary. I have a lock up switch installed. O yea, it's a '95.

Thanks, Duke

I just pulled a stock trailer yesterday and sure could use and unlock swich also. Mine start lugging and I'd have to touch the brake to get it to unlock to get to the top. For some reason mine isn't down shifting.

An Idea is where the wire ties in if you cut it and put the switch inbetween would that work.

Mine's also a 95.

Duke,

You need a three position switch so that the center position is OFF. The wire from the CPM goes to the center post. The wire to the transmission goes on one end post and the ground goes on the other.

danandme,

That's exactly correct. That's why I use the other kind of lock up switch. Anyway, if someone must do it this way the above setup will do it. A transmission temp gage should be used to keep from smokeing your transmission. A better way would be to lock out OD and then lock the TC.

Duke, I have a diagram of how to wire up the 3 position switch. If you want I can e-mail or fax it to you. How were your egt's after we slid your cam plate back . 040 and how are you liking the 3000rpm gov. kit?

When I wired my '97 and and a friend's 97 for a lockup switch, I used a Double Pole Double Throw(DPDT) switch from Radio Shack. I wired the torque converter lock and unlock on one side of the switch and on the other side I wired in a pilot light, using a 12 volt source, that would be lighted when in the "unlock" position to remind you that you are in the "unlock" position. The "mucho caliente" position--if you drive very far in Overdrive-Unlock under heavy throttle, it does get hot!!.

Piers, The gov spring kit is great! That and bumping the timing to 15* really brought the truck to life, and as you said advancing the timing really reduced cold start smoke.

Moving the cam plate back . 040 made the #4 plate easy to live with. I may have to back off a little near the top of a long hill, but before it was it in the red zone as soon as I got on it. I can now go over any hill with my drivers license way past redline.

Thanks for the help, I couldn't be happier with the truck. I hope Warner has recovered from realizing the broken half of the injection pump lock washer had fallin into the gear case. He looked like someone had just shot his dog. And of course it had to be late on Friday afternoon.

Emailing the diagram would be great.

Thanks, Duke
