Hitch Reccomendations

B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck - Companion 5th Wheel Hitch

Got a question for you guy's about 12 volt converters. I am not going to go into the full story but I purchased a trailer that was converted into a camper and the previos guy put in a 110 volt refrigerator and was wondering if anybody has used a 12 volt converter to run something like this or is it to much draw, I called Camping World and they said it was to much but I thought I would ask and see if somebody would know for sure.

Thanks,

Paul

Some years back I had a cabin cruiser that had an AC/DC refrigerator. In the slip, on AC, it worked fine but even with it's tiny little compressor, on DC, it would drain a large deep-cycle battery overnight. I agree with Camping World. It wouldn't be practical.

Actually, what you are looking for is a 12v to 115 volt inverter. A converter goes the other way. Previous answer is still correct, ... wouldn't work very well without a generator or alternator to keep the battery charged.

If the AC refer is small enough you should be able to run it with an inverter while cruising down the road, the alternator may keep up depending on the demand. You would probably have to find a campsite with a AC hookup if you want to run it while parked though.

Frig. change out

Thanks guys for the responses and I figured they were right just wanted to check. I guess I will just have to put in a compact RV frig in its place, one that runs off propane, 110, or 12 volt.

Thanks again,

Paul
