I do not wish to start a flame war. I know that this subject can be just as bad as the oil wars and this is not my intent.
I have run the bhaf for over 100,000 with no problems.
Recently we purchased a travel trailer and so for the first time I have been towing with my truck. Temps are not that bad but I am making some modifications to reduce them. The first is wrapping down pipe to reduce under hood temps this works well so far, however the bhaf is still right there next to the turbo.
What I am looking for is the most cost effective airbox/ filter setup that works as well (or better) at filtering as well as blocking heat from turbo ect.
I have seen the heat shield for the bhaf as well as other products that cost a lot more but may not do anything. The only products that I have tried is a k&n filter in the stock box with and without the afe torque tube.
The k&n loaded up my charge air cooler with oil and the afe torque tube got soft with heat and generally seemed to be a shoddy product. Both of these products went into the trash.
Other than that I am open to anything including going back to the stock box.
I do not want an oiled filter and I probably would not purchase a afe product.
Thanks in advance for any information.
