Took my boys on a deer hunt and got two deer within an hr. One boy is 10, and it was his first deer. The other boy is 12 and it’s his 2nd. Each took one shot with a 6mm rem. Pretty good times hunting with kids.

Love to see some of today's youth still enjoying the hunt! At least you know they'll be able to provide dinner when times are lean! Nice looking harvest and memories to go with! Sure enjoyed the hunts with mine when he was that age and yes the memories do last! ENJOY and congratulations!

I too like to see the tradition carried on by passing down the proper way of hunting.

My younger son and his son (15) both deer hunt using a bow and shotgun during the shotgun season in IL.

Thanks guys. Some of my favorite times as a kid was hunting with my dad. Everyone tells me to enjoy these years because they go fast. Glad to hear you have the great memories too.

Awesome!
Just got done with 3 weeks of hunting with my dad. It’s a family tradition I’m passing down to my daughters as well. My youngest (11) has a pronghorn hunt coming up, and the middle (12) has a cow elk hunt coming up as well.

My Dad took my brother and I hunting quite a bit when we were young and continued the tradition throughout our lives. A few years ago we had this tradition in reverse. My brother and I went to great pains to keep Dad out hunting. He wasn't able to walk much at all even with a walker due to a stroke, old age etc... His mind was ready and willing but not his legs. We dressed him up and put him in the JD Gator and took him to the hunting blind. It was job getting him in there. I figure we scared everything away for a mile. Much to our surprise he harvested a whitetail buck that morning with a .41 Magnum. It was the last time we got him out but it was worth it. He was 85 when this happened and he passed away last summer at the age of 88. Lots of good family times. I have been blessed with a good father and brother.

My younger son and his son (grandson) were planning a hunting trip over Halloween weekend (10/2021) but that was just cancelled. It is bow season in IL for deer. My grandson was moved up to the varsity football squad for playoffs in IL. He is a freshman tailback with 1000+ yards and spent two weeks on the sophomore squad when other running backs were out with Covid-19 during the regular season.

My daughter is playing HS volleyball and headed to state this week. (sports get in the way of hunting season, but that is a lot of fun too) Mule deer season has ended here, but she wants to go for a whitetail and that season is still on after volleyball. Whitetails are kind of rare around here, but we have a few. If she harvests one I'll post a picture. My dad has given up on the hunting, but his is getting up there in age. We just stop by his house and show him the deer and later give him some jerky. Glad you got to get your dad out at 85 crispyboy.

I can still remember hearing the bullet whiz overhead and impact, long before the shot was...

Myself and a friend were voulentold to go brushing, while my dad and grandpa sat on a ridge... I had to do all the work back then, but it was 100% worth it!!!

I still remember getting all dressed up in orange before bed, so I wasn't late. Some of my best memories ever!!!
