Would a fuel pressure regulator help the OEM LP?

I just installed the Cool-Down Timer last night. Seems to work properly, shuts down when parking brake is released while engine running and timer on. Tried it on 2 minute mode, shut down truck in 2 minutes. However, I am getting the ABS and Air Bag lights on the instrument panel lighting up along with chimes I can hear. Is this normal? I emailed Howard last night, but haven't heard back.

Any idea?

Thanks,

Casey

I don't know what year of truck you have, try posting the info. I have the Cool Down Timer also, but have not gotten any lights. Did you hook into the right fuses? Mine has worked flawlessly since I installed it.

I have a 2002, everything is hooked up properly. Seems to work as advertised, but appears to be feeding into the circuit that powers the abs and airbags along with the chimes. Don't want to screw up anything electrical, know what I mean?

What do you mean "normal"?

Are you saying the lights and chimes that come on when the timer is activated is normal? I presume they light and chime until the timer times out, and then everything stops?

I am interested in one of these, but I'd kinda like to try one first. Or at least see one function.

Here's the skinny

Alright according to Howard, the developer of the Cool-Down Timer,

"You guys have hit the nail on the head. The timer only activate one electrical node, the one needed to keep the engine running. The node that powers the ABS, air bags and many others has no power to them, so the indicator light is telling you exactly what it should - The ABS, Air bags, etc. are not working. As soon as the key is turned on, the other nodes will receive power and all will be well. " This was posted over on DTR.

Now as for the chime, it was either because my truck door was open or my seat belt was not connected. Tried it out tonight, took the yf out for her BD, and at the restaurant parking lot, no chime this time, but I did get the ABS and Air Bag indicator lights, but they do go out when either the truck shuts off or you start the truck before the timer has shut the truck off.

But according to Howard this is 'normal'.

Get one, price is right and installation is a piece of cake. Hope I answered all of your questions or concerns.

Take care,

Casey

I'm wondering what product you are discussing. I haven't seen this advertised anywhere. Where do I go for info? Thanks.

Geno's Garage sells the cool-down timer, the Diesel Turbo Lifesaver , which has a time-delay to keep your engine running for five minutes after you turn off the key, in order to allow proper cool-down of the Turbo.

ISSPro make a similar device, the TTM (Turbo Temp Monitor) , that keeps the engine running until EGTs come down to a desired temperature.
