Jim,

I haven't tried the Royal Purple product, but have used the Redline water wetter, which is basically the same thing from what I understand. They work by increasing the alkalinity of the water, and in my experience, actually made my T-Bird run hotter.

Hmmm... .

It works by reducing the cof (coefficient of friction) of the water. Like how adding a bit of soap to water reduces the surface tension. Fire departments use a lot of it to make penetrate a fire better. But does it work to help cool? Not that I could tell when I tried it in my Jeep.

Antifreeze is a poor coolant in that it is slow to absorb heat and slow to release it. Pure water is the best coolant once you break surface tension. This is the purpose of the coolant additive. The more antifreeze present, the less effective the additives are. I use pure water with water weter in my drag car with exceptional results but, I primarily use the additive for it's corrosion protection which, was the primary function of the product when it was initialy developed. I do not see where there would be any benifit using it in a truck with 50% glycol in the cooling system.

Hi Jim,

I use the Fleetguard additive (DCA6OL) part number 3315459 (16Oz. ) and Fleetguard antifreeze. Have no problems. Just a heads up- planning on traveling up there on 3/18. Its justs me and my 2001. Looking forward to seeing your mods.
