my fan cycles like crazy lately, even when the coolant temp is 100 deg. it seems throttle related. if i let off the pedal and pick it back up the fan comes on for about 2 sec and its back off. at light throttle it does this about 2 or 3 times per minute, pulled my horse trailer sunday temp went up to 227 deg and the fan did not come on once. anyone else with same? any ideas?

TIA

I had to have my fan clutch replaced at about 45K miles. The service manager grabbed the engine fan while the motor was idling and had me switch the AC on - he was able to hold onto the fan (wearing gloves). He said that if the fan clutch was working properly he wouldn't have been able to hold it.

Does it make a difference if you switch the AC on?

cpittman, these symptoms are with the a/c on, lately i run the a/c all day. i'll turn it off today and see what happens.

Mine does the same thing with the a/c on. No big deal to me unless the truck starts overheating. Usually only does it at low speeds though.
