On my recent return trip from BC, I discovered anti-freeze on the front valve cover area. It took several tries to locate the source. On the 12V, there is a ¼ inch formed hose that goes from where the thermostat housing bolts to the head and just before the upper radiator hose. There was a pinhole in the hose that did not leak except when on the road, then it would give a fine mist. I almost went nuts trying to locate where the leak was.
Although the leak was a personal problem, I thought I would share with you the fix.
The ¼ inch formed hose was OEM. Try to find that hose on Sunday of a three day weekend. I replaced the hose with a ¼ inch fuel hose, 7 inches long. Due to the position of the hose fittings, the hose must make an arc. Too short, hose will pinch off, too long, rubs too many other things.
I don’t know about cost savings, the fuel hose was in my toolbox, and I see no need to find a ¼ inch formed hose.
