When i changed out my eng oil psi regulator i found and pc of metal in the water jacket behind the regulator/oil cooler housing.... I thought it looked like a water pump impeller blade ???

Now i'm having coolant dripping from the water pump area, just below my fan belt tight'ner
I also hear bearing [????] noise in this area, COULD be my notion.. ;)
What should i look for? Just put one in for good measure? Cummins and/or Dodge pump?

Do you notice the engine temp is higher than usual? Or see water dripping from the water pump when the engine is at temperature and running? I would think that if an impeller blade made it to the outside of the water pump you'd bee seeing more than a drip.

No, eng temp is steady.
I replaced the thermastat a few months ago as temps would go above 200 then drop to 190~ and stay
Now they rise and stay put @ 190~

I didnt really try hard to see where its coming from, but it is from the pump area...

Just did a flush and refill

Well, its an easy job to do if i need to do it again soon... I got one at Advance Auto

Got er replaced and no leaks!

Also, my old pump has all its blades... But the steel pc shown in post #1 def is a pump blade. Matches right up... Once a-pun a time, I wonder what happened......

Old pumps bearing had some play and feel rough

My US made Bosch I got from Rock auto (posted heavily here) is holding up real well. I don't see it offered anymore. I really don't know what I'd choose if I needed one right now.
Mom in law needs a pump in her '01 Town & Country. Sounds like a roller skate. I'm having her get a Delco from rock.
I'd much rather change the cummins pump again ;)

CSI: Water Pump (Queue music: "The Dirty Jobs", by The Who). I wonder if someone changed it years ago and the housing was bonded to the engine. They may have tried to pry it off, and snapped a blade in the process when it came loose. Or worse, they were installing the new one and broke a blade while trying to force it into position. If you had one of those new CSI6000 Pro machines you could put the blade in it for analysis, and it would kick out the result in just a few minutes, all while you were engaging in idle chitchat with your hot and curvy coworker.

The Caravan pumps aren't nearly as bad as they look, but I wouldn;t want to do one on the ground

Wayne...

Watch the mounting bolts on that T & C water pump, very easy to snap one off up here in Corrosion Cityville........assuming it is probably the 3.8L.
