Morning All. .

Smelled the unmistakable odor of glycol when I shut my truck down yesterday.

Restarted it & looked under the hood & saw a fine "spray" of coolant coming from the area behind the fan pulley.

I assume this is the water pump. The truck is an 03' 555/300 w/ st, ac. and has about 83 K on the odo.

Is there a seal in this location that can be replaced, or is this a symptom of a soon-to-be-failed water pump as happens w/ some gassers?

I have no experience w/ this, as I have never had a coolant leak in any of the 3 Cummins engines I have owned to date.

Thanks in advance, Greg

Are you sure its the water pump?

My front freeze plug was leaking and its right behind the fan pulley mount.

Thanks for the reply jwilliams...

No, I'm not sure... . I didn't know there was a freeze plug at that location. How did you figure that out/ fix the leaking plug?
