I know this has probably been covered before guys, but here it goes. I can't seem to find the answer I'm looking for in the archives.

What is the best coolant to use in our Cummins diesels? I have seen that there are mixtures out there evidently and need some direction. And distilled water? Where does one get that?

Thanks in advance,

Shane

Go back to 12-9-00, page 3 of the 2nd Gen. Ram forum - Fleetguard Coolant. Do mix with distilled water - you don't need calcium chloride in your system. I posted part #'s for Fleetguard HD - low silicate. Craig

I get distilled water at my local grocery store in gallon jugs.

You can use any brand you want but make sure it's Low Silicate. Most of your Prestone flavors are not marked Low Silicate so be carefull.

I use the John Deere Cool-Guard. I was impressed with the info given on the website (http://www.johndeere.com/deerecom/_John+Deere+Parts/Learn+About+John+Deere+Parts/Coolants/default.htm) and have been impressed with the with the John Deere Plus-50 engine oil.

I buy the prediluted coolant, a bit more convient for a little additional cost, but the main reason is because I don't have to worry about the quality of water I'm adding. Even though the supermarket bottles say distilled I still wonder about the quality of their distillation process. Peace of mind I guess.
