After 90,000 miles or so, my LP went dead and my DC dealer changed it under warranty, so I was happy. I picked up the truck on a Friday and by Saturday my check engine light came on, but the truck seems to be running just fine. Monday I took it back to the dealer to have them check it out ... they read the codes and said that the coolant sensor went bad ... changed the sensor and I was happy again. That was about 3-4 weeks ago.

Last week all of a sudden my check gages light goes on with the ringing of the bell and I see that my temperature gage shows 220 and then it drops down to 0 and back again; the check engine light goes back on and the gage returns back to 190 where it should be.

By now (thanks to TDR) I can check my own codes so I pull over and check:

PCU - 1693 DTC detected in ECM or PCM

ECU - 0117 ECT Sensor Voltage Too Low

ECU - 0217 Decreased Engine Performance Due To Engine Overheating Condition

The check engine light stayed on for a little afterward but went out again; and now the truck runs just fine.

It very much looks to me that I have another bad coolant sensor, but nothing on this great truck should go bad in 3 weeks!

What else could this be? Any leads or ideas are appreciated.
