I just had the water pump recall done and about one week later the low coolant light came on.

I am having trouble deciding what coolant to use to top it off. The dealer is 40 miles away and I would prefer not having to drive there, especially with the light on. I called the dealer and the parts guy recommended HOAT coolant which I know is wrong.

The manual says that the proper coolant is OAT that meets the MS-90032 Mopar standard that is only available from a dealer. It is hard to believe that no after market coolant will work.

What do you all use?

did your invoice mention what they refilled your truck with when the recall was done? I'd just want to be sure there isn't a problem mixing types!

It only states that coolant was added. I have read that they save the old coolant and put it back. I will be near the dealer Wed. and will see what they charge for the Mopar coolant.

Yea, That's what my dealer said they did drain and refill then top off. Only in my case they topped off with the wrong stuff. Very Orange in color not Purple that it had. They tried to tell me that all the coolant turns orange after a while when I asked them "Then why was it Purple when I brought the truck in ?" the agreed that a full system flush was in order. I so hate Service writers that think they can Bull S@#t their way out of a screw up.

Mopar stuff that our trucks came with is purple the wrong stuff is orange. when I asked the tec he said he put in the 5 year stuff not the 10 year stuff the truck came with.

The sad part is.......the OAT 10 yr/150k mile stuff was introduced across the FCA line (not just RAM pickups) in 2013. Up to and including the 2018 model year, folks.....that’s six model years. Is it that hard for dealership personnel to retain or learn that simple tidbit of info in regards to something as simple as coolant after the 2013 year introduction of the OAT????
