Coolant Temperature Probe location?

If one was to add a seperate coolant temperature gauge (Geno's Westach Temp Gage), where would be a good location to insert the probe (1/8")?



Have a friend that bought two temp gauges. Installed one in the oil temp plug on top of the filter housing. Wants coolant temp.

I would mount the temperature as close to the coolant thermostat as possible, just be sure to be on the engine side of the thermostat not the thermostat housing. Mount it as close to the thermostat as possible. You will have to drill and tap to insert a threaded probe.

I put mine in the 1/4" port just aft of the thermostat on the right side of the head. There is all kinds of ports along that side of the head, also the dash temp gauge gets its temp from the left rear side of the head.
