Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Coolant temperature problems?

The temp rises to 190º then drops immediately to 140º, and jumps quickly back and forth, much faster than the engine would cool down, I put in a new OEM and it didn't change a thing it still does it. Is there anything in between that may have something to do with the quick change in temp?

That is normal action. My 96 and many others has been doing that since day one.

it is because of where the temp sensor is located. its normal.

Just reflecting the action of the thermostat opening and closing, it's fine. People have taken their truck into the dealer for this problem, dealer's solution is to replace the thermostat with a less accurate one so it doesn't fluctuate so rapidly.
