coolant woes

when a waterpump goes, does coolant come out in a stream? that's what mine is doing, and it's coming right from around the water pump, and dripping of the front passenger side corner of the oil sump. Just making sure, if the headgasket went, it wouldn't drip that bad, would it? i mean it's a solid stream. Thanks

A stream is pretty bad. When a water pump goes, it's ussualy the weaper valve that leaks.



The headgasket would just be seeping out, not streaming.



Check the all the lines.

Look to see if it is coming from the weep hole OR if it is coming from the base. Mine was leaking recently and it was due to the "o-ring" behind the water pump that was leaking. I had already ordered in the pump when I could have just gone to cummins and bought the o-ring. o-well. I gotta spare now.
