A few years ago I was at an RV shop getting a hitch put on my truck and noticed some sort of coolant additive that lowers water temperatures by up to 30 degrees.

I'm about to service my truck's cooling system before making a cross-country trip back east with our car and some stuff in tow.

On the trip out west last year, the truck ran hot a few times on the longer/steeper grades pulling the load.

I was thinking about adding some of this stuff when I service my cooling system. Can anyone provide the name of a product that will do this when added to coolant? I didn't get that info off the bottle at the RV shop.

What have folks' experiences been with this stuff?

Thank you,

Mike

it won't fix a cooling system problem but it will help out a little, i think it plays with the surface tension of the water to help it conduct heat better. royal purple has a product also i think it's called purple ice but i've not tried it

I put a similar product in made by Royal Purple, Purple Ice. Maybe saw a few degrees but it didn't make a dramatic difference.
