How much noise does the cooling fan make when it engages?
We went on our summer vacation, first big trip with our new Dodge. I'm still grinning from ear to ear about how well this truck pulls our travel trailer, along with how quiet it is. We went from Dallas/Fort Worth thru Colorado and Wyoming. With previous tow vehicles (2 Fords, 1 Chevy), I could hear a very loud noise when when the cooling fan would engage. It would be a very definite roar, and if you didn't know what it was you would think something was wrong. With the Dodge, I never heard it come on. Watching the temp gauge, it normally stays just to the left of center mark, and would go just above the center mark when pulling a long grade. Reading the OBD-2 port gives 190-192 degrees for normal, and it goes up to 210 when pulling the grades (Engine Coolant Temperature). I never saw it go higher, so I don't think it's overheating but I'm surprised I haven't heard the fan. RPMs are typically running 1800-2000. Did my fan never engage, or is it pretty quiet?
