Cooltwist Intercooler
I got it installed finally. Installation went good, took about an hour and a half. There is no comparison between it and the factory one. Core is 1/4 inch wider and the tanks are much bigger on the cooltwist.
I did however have one problem. On my first test drive I could hear a high pitched squeal. It did not sound good. Thought I had a pin whole in the tank somewhere. I engineered a plug that I could insert in the rubber boot where the turbo attaches. (a spray can cap with a brass fitting threaded to a male end of an air chuck fitting :-laf ) With a regulator on the compressor I slowly increased air psi. Whalla, I could hear the leak. It was coming out around the boot on the cool side leaving the cooler.
After readjusting the clamp and checking them all (tightened the #@^* out of them), all was well.
The test drive went great, as soon as got back I felt the tanks, turbo side was pretty hot, outlet side was cool to the touch.
Feels like the power comes on stronger, egt's stay cooler and best of all, I can finally relax about blowing the plastic caps off of the stocker.
I do not have a actual number on the egt improvement, but as I get more time with it I will report back.
All in all I am very satisfied. Much cheaper than the banks system. Seems like a very high quality product.
