Just wondering when you would want an impact driver instead of a Drill. I have read a bit that they are great for driving Lag screws and the like but I wondered what else??

Doesn't seem like you would want to use one to break any rusted bolts loose, rather use the impact gun for that.

Who's using em and what do you think?

This is what I'm talking about - http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...7//102-5947591-5712956?v=glance&s=hi&n=552748

Home Depot is a dangerous, dangerous place...

I've got an 18V Milwaukee 1/2" Impact. I use it mainly for changing tires at the pulls, but it works great around the garage when I don't/can't drag the hose around.

I have an 18V De Walt. Its real nice for little jobs too far away from an air source (or if im too lazy to get an air hose out). as far as doing things a screwdriver does, like drilling holes, driving screws, etc, I would get an 18V hammer drill, it gives you more options then the impact gun.

Linemen love the impact drivers for drilling holes or driving lag screws while up on the poles. If a drill bit hangs, the recoil can throw them off of the pole. Doesn't happen with the impact. Safety first!
