Tire Changers

Exhausting welding fumes?

... what brand are you guys having good luck with? Looking for a quality unit that is capable of providing some reliable service from.

I have a DeWalt and it had served me very well. When I was shopping it was either DeWalt or SnapOn. I would have liked to purchase the SnapOn but I could not justify the additional cost.

I've had a dewalt 12v for over a year now without issue, it's rated at 1150 inch lbs and will break most small bolts on the truck..... clamps ect. Just can't say enough about it!

if you want something small, the Mikita is the best thing going right now IMHO...

over 1200 in lbs, servicable brushes, smallest/lightest for the strength.

Home Depot has a kit that comes w/ a charger, two batteries, a drill, and a flourescent light for under $200. my buddy said he got it for $150! I paid $220 for just the impact and drill, and I would do it again!!!!

I have always been a milwaulkee guy, but I shopped around on this purchase, and the Mikita is the 5. 9B of cordless impacts ;)

if you need a bigger 1/2" drive, I haven't shopped them

I have the Dewalt also, It came free with the Hammerdrill I bought, its only the 14V, I never really used one til now, and I use it all the time. It is on the weak size, but for the small stuff its great. I am thinking about the 18V now that see how much I use it

I have the 18v Dewalt and rotated the tires on my pickup this weekend. It was still going strong so I did the wife's car too! Been pretty happy with it. It makes changing a tire a breeze and people are pretty impressed when you whip it out to help them with a flat.

I have the new high output 18vdc DEWALT! My buddy had the snap on 3850, the snap on is rated less torque but always out performs my dewalt! I now also have the Snap on 3850 and it is all I use! The snap on also has a variable trigger so I can very safely start a nut while in the socket with no fear of cross threading! The Snap on trigger lets me start up so slowly, I have much better control!

Also just a note the Snap on will sound like a bunch of marbles from day one so don't worry about that just enjoy the awesome power and performance! Don't bother looking at the specs too much as my Dewalt was rated quite a bit higher than my much better snap on! Also the detent on the dewalt is a pain in the neck to get the socket or extension off if it is in the hole on the socket or extension! The snap on also has a slimmer body that lets me use less extensions than the dewalt! The dewalt is bulky but looks good on my shelf!

MILWAULKIE has the new 28 volt lithium ION that i was very impressed with i use all milwaulkie cordless and i am slowely converting my power tools to milwaulkie on the ship I work on there are 2 engine crews of 9 guys who use our old 12 volt cordless andd all but 1 piece out of 10 has held up for the last 5 years some one dropped a flashlight 25 feet and the lense broke.

we also have 2 of the corded sawz alls the most used tool in our shop and both are going strong although the 1 saw with the quick change blade gets twice the use my christmas list in 2006 is the 28 volt system form milwaulkie

just my humble opnion

my milwaukee cordless sawzall always ate batteries...

I love red tools, but for cordless Mikita is where it's at IMHO. the Dewalts don't even have servicable brushes!

I was wanting a snap-on (or other brand name one) , but do not have $300 to spend on one and just get 1 battery also. I have been putting off buying one because of the prices, but my wife got me one for christmas. It is from advanced auto ( mechanics choice brand), 240ftlb, 2 batt, charger, 4 sockets, and case. for under $100 !! Haven't tried it yet. hope it works good. Only bad thing so far is the charge time. ( i think like6-8 hours) , and weight.

I also have the Dewalt 18V. (Grainger 3WE98) Its great for most lugnuts and has worked well on everything else I've used it on.

i got mine from snapon. they were definately expensive. but well worth it. the 1/2 inch takes the wheels off my truck with no problem. the 3/8 works well under the hood.

Hitachi

I have a Hitachi Koki 12v. It works very well, and comes with 2 batteries. The tool is small, weighs 3. 5 pounds, has a belt clip and an led light. The tool has carbon brushes that can easily be cleaned or replaced. I paid close to $300. 00 though. Like most tools: you get what you pay for.
