Has anyone noticed that most of the advertising we see are for companies that we already know about anyway?

Always wondered why there are ads for Boeing on TV, are we supposed to all run out and buy a 747 or refuse to get on a non-Boeing plane at the airport?

What really P**Sed me off was watching a company like Edison International (AKA So Cal Edison) cry and whine about rates, bankruptcy and energy crisis whil spending millions advertising and sponsoring Edison International Field (AKA The Big "A"). What the hell does a energy company need to advertise for? We all know who they are!?!?!!!!

The company I work for promotes advertising to increase "brand awarness" yet will not advertise via NASCAR racing. Go figure that one out.
