Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Correct Oil filter from Cummins?

I called a local Cummins dealer to get availability and pricing for an oil filter. I gave them the engine serial number and they came back with LF3349. I checked at Geno's and they list that filter for a pre 99, 12 valver.



The truck was delivered in Dec of 98. Was looking for the LF3894 as listed on Geno's. Just wondering why Cummins came back with an "old" number?

Not sure, but I know the Donaldson and Amsoil filters I use are the same regardless of year, 1989-2007, so I would assume either filter will work, but I don't know the specifics of the different Fleetguards personally.

The LF3894 is called the Stratapore and has better filtering media than any of the other Fleetguards.



Did you ask them about the 3894?



I buy my Fleetguards at a local big rig repair shop at much lower prices than Cummins or Geno's.

You can also use the 3rd gen filters which are like the 24v filters but are flutted at the bottom. Part # LF 16035.

Any commercial equipment store will usually carry the fleetgaurd filters. Check your local Case dealer... . some cummins engines were installed in Case loaders/dozers. I think that someone posted one time that fleetgaurd filters can be ordered/bought at Napa stores if I'm not mistaken. I buy mine at the local Freightliner dealer or Ford commercial dealers.

I called a local Cummins authorized shop. They had only 1 listing for the ISB. Got them to order the LF3894. I usually take my truck to a local shop. They install the LF3552. Decided to save a few bucks and so the job myself. I had the LF3894 on the list of parts but I wanted to check out the pricing at the Cummins dealer.
