Hello to everyone,

Today I was visiting allpar.com, and seen what are believed to be the new charges listed for the new 6. 7-L equipped 2500 and 3500 trucks beginning Jan. 1, 07. I have pasted them below.

Remember, it is not official until it is official.

6. 7L Diesel engine option $6,100 MSRP ($495 higher than 5. 9L, but exhaust brake included at n/c. Models that feature the 6. 7 as standard will be increased

by $495. 00)

6-speed auto trans - $1575. 00 MSRP ($480 higher than 4-speed)

But wait, that's not all:

Dodge will be adding an “Ultra-Clean Diesel System” charge of $995. 00 MSRP for all Ram's equipped with the 6. 7 diesel engine. This will be added as a separate

line item on the factory sticker.

Displaying this charge prominently on the Monroney label will provide high visibility of the sophisticated emissions systems on the Ram, as well as the

significant cost of these EPA standards. This approach will give dealers a more effective tool for explaining the diesel price increase, compared to a

pure, option price increase.

Merry Christmas to everyone!!

Mark.

So in total, a $7,100 option over a gas engine (with a stick).

$7,100 can buy a LOT of gas. Plus, with diesel between $. 20 - $. 40 more a gallon than super unleaded ... only the rich will be able to afford them now.

I'm going out on a limb and predict that new diesel pickup truck sales are going to start to drop precipitously, starting next year.

I guess the EPA is getting their wish to end diesel car/truck ownership by the average Joe.

My new C&C is due in next week and the 6. 7 engine option is listed @ $5555. 00 on the order sheet. There are no other charges listed. Truck has been on order for 12 weeks.

The change from 12 to 24 valves was supposed to do that... Dodge went on to its highest Ram sales ever. The change to common-rail was supposed to do that... Ram sales kept right up with everyone else. This change won't doom diesel sales either. Those who want it will pay the money. My 2005 was $10K more than my 1996, and was optioned essentially the same... I still bought it.

Dodge and most other manufacturers have price increases the first week of January and the first week of April for the current model year on all vehicles delivered to dealerships starting that week. That's why it's always a good idea to buy vehicles that are delivered to dealerships by December of the current model year. It assures you the lowest possible price. The price increases for the new diesels aren't that bad considering the increased complexity forced on maufacturers to meet new EPA regs. I owned a 2003 2500 Hemi and never will again... sounded great, drove fine unloaded (12 mpg  ), but as soon as you put 10K# behind it, you were getting passed by everyone.

When I got my cab and chassis the charge for the engine was $5,555, the six speed auto transmission (Aisin) was $2,295 and there was no "utra clean diesel system" charge at all.

Already have it, been driving it for a month.

The Duramax is an over $8000 option
That's the price of the "Power Package" ($8150) which is the engine, the 6-speed Allison, and limited-slip rear. The engine by itself is currently $6050 MSRP. The Allison by itself is $2295, so they're "cutting you a deal" with the Power Package... including the LS rear, you get a total discount of $500. At least Dodge and Ford still let you shift for yourself if you want... GM is Allison only.

Any more updates you'd care to share with us?

A good friend (and neighbor) of mine just came by with his new 6. 7L cab-chassis 6-speed. I drove it up the road a couple miles to the store, then he drove it back (to show me what it has really got!). It is impressive and PEPPY for a bone stocker that is not even broke in! The emissions mess is not as bad as everyone has made it out to be. You can still SEE the engine, unlike most gassers and the V-8 diesels! It is quiet, yet you can still (thankfully) tell that you spent the 5 plus grand to get the diesel. I am impressed and he is thrilled so far. He replaced a 7. 3L furd 550 with this truck. They also have a 1994, 1996, 2006 Dodge/Cummins and a 1995 F650/Cummins.

The first thing I noticed about the new truck (because of my curiosity) was how CLEAN the exhaust is! This thing runs cleaner than ANY gasser I have ever smelled. You can stick your face in the exhaust stream and it will not even make your eyes water. It has NO smell either! My '03 (pre-kitty version) will take your breath, burn your eyes and has a harsh smell. This new one is the cleanest running engine (of ANY fuel source) I have ever seen. The new emissions (and ULSD) crap is doing its job. Cummins has done its homework on this one. It is impressive how clean, quiet and powerful it is, even compared to just 4 years earlier.

'07

I just took delivery of a special ordered 5. 9 '07. An occasional Baja trip which neccessites running Pemex kept me from ordering a 6. 7,not the added complexity or cost. Sounds like Dodge and Cummins are coming through with by far the best package to meet the EPA's mandated regulations. Best of luck to you new owners! :)
