PE4200 leaking ????

Exhaust mods and warranty

for new isbe which holds 12 quarts here are the price d/f's

royal purple multi vis oil 15w 40:

MOM&POP: 6. 97=90. 95 per change

NAPA: 5. 88=76. 73 per oil change

oiltown.com 4. 93=59. 13 per change

here again the internet is empowering shoppers as well as this website

i change every 7000 so in 200k i will spend roughly $1700 on oil from oil town not bad vs $2500 at mom and pop and $2200 at NAPA

how does rp compare to chevron delo 400?

rp is group II oil... right?

or is it "poser" synthetic - group III

i can get delo 400 at costco for around 6 and some change per gallon... . that's ~1. 60 - 1. 80 per quart.

If you're shopping price you can get 15W-40 at Tractor Supply for $. 92-. 97/qt. I don't know much about it but I understand its CH-4 rated. This would be the way to go if its all about the price per qt.

Your oil group classifications go from 1 to 5, one being the poorest and five the best.

Group 1 through 3 are natural mineral based or dino oils.

Group 4 & 5 are PAO, pure synthetic based oils.

Royal purple is a group 4 if memory serves me right I don't beleave it is a group 5. The group 5's are extremely expensive and rare to find.

Delo 400 is a group 3 oil, but one of the best for a none PAO oil.

Are true synthetics worth the extra money? It all depends on what you expect out of your oil and what you are using it for.

I use mobil Devac 1. 5-40 group 4 oil because of the extreme differences in temperatures year around here. I do not use it because of extended oil drains, although I do go out to 6,000 miles before changeing, this is towing and all different kinds of driveing conditions.

Royal Purple is a Group/Category 4 PAO synthetic, as is Mobil I (although I've seen some sources state that Mobil I is now a blend of Group/Category 4 & 5, but I can't confirm that information. )

Because of their differing requirements and usage profiles, I run:

Delo 400 15W-40 in the 2002 Ram/Cummins

Mobil I 10W-30 in the wife's 2000 5. 9L Durango

Royal Purple 5W-20 in the 2003 Acura 3. 2TL-S

Guess that pretty well wipes out any brand favoritism for me! :( ;)

Rusty

from what i here RP has very high PAO% which is a large part of the increased expense.

i run mobile 1 in the wife's I-35 infiniti

4. 98 is not bad per quart considering i am doubling my change intervals which is now close to a wash vs. dino

after all i have read i think delo 400 is better than rotella

"The API has 5 categories for oil base stocks for 'classification purposes'. Note, the numbering has nothing to due with whether one is better than the other, only a 'classification'.

I, II, and III are refined crude mineral oils.

I = the 1. 00 per quart typical engine oil

II & III = the newer SL API Licensed oils and would also include the "hydrocracked' form of oils now that can be advertised as 'synthetic' such as Castrol Syntec.

IV are only PAO based synthetics (such as Mobil 1, Royal Purple, etc)

V - ALL other synthetics including esters, silicones, synthetic glycols (PAG), POE (polyol esters - airplane jet engine oils for example).

They are just classifications and anyone implying that one oil is better than another is just displaying a very lack of knowledge on the subject.

You should be able to find some information at www.api.org under the search feature. "
