My friend has an 06 six speed. His motor has a constant shake to it and it transfers throughout the entire truck. We compared it to mine and it is a huge difference. Looking at his motor you can see it shaking, and mine is totally smooth. He says it has been this way since he had it at 24,000 miles. It now has 57,000 miles. We took Edge off and i loaded Smarty and same thing. Any ideas or same experience? Thanks.

Possibly an issue with the dual-mass flywheel?

Ryan

I guess it could be, but i figured if one or two of the springs were broken it still wouldn't shake more bthan my truck with a solid flywheel. That's definitely one option. He is changing the clutch in a couple of months.

It could be a bad injector, or bad dual mass flywheel. I recently encountered a 2007 model 5. 9 Turbo Diesel and the dual mass flywheel caused a big vibration at idle. With the South Bend Clutch replacement con-OFe with solid flywheel, the vibration was gone.

Put your hand over the tailpipe at idle. If the exhaust pulses are smooth, then you could have a balance problem, such as the DM flywheel. If the exhaust is uneven, then an injector may be the culprit. There is also the distant possibility you could have both problems.

Thanks for the replies everyone. We're leaning towards the flywheel right now. He will be changing out the clutch sooner than later now so i will post once it is complete if it goes away or not. Thanks again.
