Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) could defective fuel heater be cause of VP44 failure

Just thinking, I will check mine after I get it running again when the remain VP44 shows up. But if the sensor was bad and the heater was ON all the time (300 watts) you would never know it . All of the experts say that heat is the root of most VP44's, as well as low lift pump pressure, of course.
 
I yanked mine & through it in the trash after it sitting on my toolbox for about a year. Even when cold she fires right up ! Maybe a little more smoke at first, just keep the windows up !

Rarely does it get super cold , in the 20's I plug in the block heater. All good---Proflow
 
I think it could cause a problem but I'm not sure. I havent had a fuel heater in my truck for 5 years since I went to the FASS and ran the fuel line direct to the VP. It was 4 degrees this morning and my truck fired right up no problem. I have been down to -22, sitting over night, with out a problem. I have only plugged my truck in once and that was to see if the block heater worked when I first got my truck.
