Could It Be TPS Or Possibly Governor Spring

Could the TPS be bad even thought the voltages are testing correct. Voltage goes from 1. 11 to 4. 08 at full throttle. I have been having eratic shifting from 3rd to OD jumping back and fourth between the two at around 55 mph. Now the idle droped from 850 rpm to 500 rpm in drive with AC on. I adjusted the idle back up but can not get it over 700 rpm no matter how far I turn the screw. It is idling at 1100 rpm in park and when I shift into drive and take my foot off the break the truck takes off fast with no gas pedal. It is a 98, 12 valve, all stock, fuel pressure @ 23 psi.

Just a thought could it be the govener springs. It is stock but with 250,000 miles could that have gone bad?

Make sure your throttle linkage isn't hanging up(idle).

The voltage for the tps seems to be to high.

In my 96 service maual it states that idle tps voltage should be 1. 0 volt (+/- . 2volts). At wide open throttle (wot) the tps voltage should be 2. 2 to 2. 9 volts more than volts at idle speed. Putting wot volts at 3. 2 to 3. 9 (+/- . 2volts).

Gov springs could be getting weak.
