Oo. took my truck to the dealer today for the 2463 ,1451, and 2262 codes. he called me this evening to inform me that i wouldn't get my truck back untill next wed. because they had to order 11 new parts. Turbo, intercooler, and egr tube where just a few mentioned. no wonder ebay has so many 6. 7 turbo's.

Sounds possible, I just had mine fixed but was driveable until parts came in. The dealer that found mine plugging up said they had one they fixed that had soot backed up to the intercooler.

I personally can't believe that STAR would approve all those parts at one time without some sort of reason... . they just don't throw parts at these trucks... that is why STAR controls all the parts...

Remember that Dodge buys these engines outright with little or no support from Cummins as a good percentage of the parts you've listed are Chrysler supplied parts... not Cummins. .

On one of the other threads there are some excellent comments by a mopar tech who has some good insight to whats going on. .

On another note..... my 08 5500 now has in excess of 30K miles and we have yet to actually see or feel it going through a regen... and yes we idle the truck... but our driver runs it hard, like he stole it... . and it runs at gross weight 90% of the time...

Hey jelag:

I'm beginning to think that that is the key thing with these trucks - running them hard. Unfortunately, mine is a daily driver for most of the time.

I recently had two codes come up. After driving hard a few times on the on-ramp of the highway, the CEL and codes have cleared.

The mopar tech is mopartech and he has been very helpful.

Parts are not on restriction, so a dealership can order what they want. There is a TSB which references cleaning components, so I wonder instead of cleaning them if they are just too lazy and are replacing them?

As a matter of fact I think Cummins provides quite a bit of support to Dodge, did you attend the customer appreciation tour this summer at a local Dodge dealer?

That's great that you haven't seen or felt your truck going through regen, that's how it was designed. Good stuff.

i work in construction, and i went from putting at least a 150 miles a day down to around 40. The truck never seemed to get through a regan. But i'm excited about the parts, i would rather have it that way.

Dealer told me today that Cummins was covering the turbo cleaning and replacement to Chrysler. He also said that he'd have to do the cleaning first and could not replace the turbo until it was seen if the cleaning cured the problem. He said their experience was that cleaning cured about 50% of the vehicles.

I got my truck back last friday. the invoice states found codes p2262-p0148, cleaned egr cooler, replaced turbo & related gaskets, replaced egr due to sticking shaft, updated ecm, performed desoot, followed by a list of parts a half a page long.

This is so ridiculous. I just blocked the EGR. Engines are not supposed to have soot running through from the intake to the exhaust. Anyone take a look at your intake grid heater lately. It will be covered with oil first from the PCV and then coated with Soot from the EGR. EGR may work for gassers but in my opinion this is the root of the problems these trucks are having.

No problems yet, but if I begin having these issues as soon as warrantee is done the EGR is getting blocked and the DPF is coming off
