My "new" 03 came with an unusual exhaust. Could somebody please identify the manufacturer and tell me if this is a just for show or performance system?

The whole system is one small central unit with one pipe in from the engine and two pipes out each 3". The chrome end pieces are 3. 5" and come out straight towards the end.

This system is not a performance system if you have a diesel! It looks like a V-Force Muffler or could be a IMCO Muffler (Both Flowmaster 40 series knockoffs). If it was a flowmaster it would be stamped on the body of the muffler. There is a lot of restriction in that type of muffler. Diesels like a flowthrough design. If you cannot take your keys and drop them in the muffler and have them fall straight through dont put it on. If you have a Hemi (and posted it on here by mistake) then it is a performance system. It would flow better then stock but noise levels are higher. My guess is that it is a Goerlich system and the prebent pipes are the cheaper compression bent ones not mandrel. Put a MBRP system on it just because Magnaflow doesnt carry one for that motor in 03.

I would say it is a performance system, as in, costing you performance that could be gained by installing a stock type 4" exhaust.

Whoever owned the truck previously probably took advice from the mufffler shop and made sure he had lots of backpressure to keep that truck running in tip top shape. :-laf
