Could someone who has a ’97 tell me where one of the ground wires runs to from the left battery? My truck was involved in a front end collision back in ’99, and I just found one of the ground wires off the battery dangling down, not hooked up to anything. I bet the body shop overlooked it when they were putting the front end back together.

Looking at the negative terminal on the left battery, it’s the middle wire of the three that come out of the terminal. It’s an 8 gauge wire, it measures 34” long, and it has a big inner-toothed ring terminal on it that will accommodate a 3/8” bolt. On page 8W-20-3 in the service manual, it says that wire goes to (ground) G-116. In the service manual, under “Connector Locations” on page 8W-90-4, the description for G-116 just says “from left battery. ” In the column on that page referring the reader to whatever figure it is shown on, it says “N/S” for “not shown. ” So, all the manual tells me is that the wire comes from the left battery (well, duh!) and it goes to ground 116, but it doesn’t tell me where that location is! It shows the heavy 0 gauge wire going to the left side of the engine block and the smaller 10 gauge wire grounding to the body on the inner fender next to the battery. It’s the other wire, the middle one, that I need to find out where it terminates.

I’d appreciate it if someone could trace that 10 gauge wire on their truck and tell me where it goes.

Thanks in advance, Andy
