Went to have (3) TSB's applied to my truck today:

High idle

Door weather strip

Fuel economy/white smoke/overhead accuracy

I go to pick the truck up ... . Service Manager tells me that they COULDN'T apply the high idle TSB because my truck was built in January, and the TSB says December and prior apply. I politely tried to explain to him that the ECM doesn't know when the truck was built, and that this was simply a high idle feature. He says, "nope, tech said that it *wouldn't take*". I said, "that's BS". I then asked if they didn't do it because they wouldn't get reimbursed by DC. He hemmed and hawwed, and then repeated that "it wouldn't take". My guess is ..... that they obviously have to report the VIN of the truck that the TSB is for, and since mine didn't fall within the parameters TO THE LETTER, that they wouldn't get paid - - hence, they didn't apply it. A five minute flash update, and they wouldn't take the time.

DAMN dealerships are what make the pleasantries of owning a $45k truck a big pain-in-the-@$$ !!!

Well, Mine (truck) was MFR: 02-04 and (engine) MFR: 01-23-04... and the dealer had no problem at all doing the EXACT same thing to my truck. In fact, I had the same three done at the sametime too and I use/love the High Idle every morning.

They did the ECM flash first then set the High Idle... all told took about 15 mins total.

I think that the high idle TSB, as written, is only for the 04's with the auto transmission. But alot of us that have had the 18-037-04 TSB done have also gotten the high idle enabled. When I had mine done, the dealership didn't even bat an eye when I told them what I wanted. And it was covered under the warranty.

18-004-04 applies to the 04 as the high idle feature has to be downloaded. it came from the factory installed in the 04. 5 so technically the TSB does not have to be performed. As others have said here, all they have to do is enable it. The dealer where I bought my truck did not get it done even after the 2nd attempt and continued to say that it did not apply to my truck. Another dealer figured it out and got it done. Also had TSB 18-037-04 performed. Guage is between 1/2 and 1/4 after 500 miles, all around town. Overhead says 18. 5.

Add my name to the list of people that had high idle activated when I obtained 18-037-04. The dealer told me it was an option and they just had to turn it on. My engine's date of manufacture is Feb 12, 2004.

My deler didn't have a clue when I picked up my '05 this week, but I told him I knew the exact steps and he was more than willing to hook up the DRB and learn something new. Of course it was a 2 minute procedure and he was grateful for the little tip and commented on what a cool feature that was. So far I have been very impressed with the service department's willingness to help out, so if you're needing service in the Sacramento area, I'd give Swift Dodge a try!

Hoofinsoot, Please let me know if you succed getting high idle. I need it too! I will do the same. Thanks..... 04. 5 600HO built June 2004.

I second that one! The Jeep Dude, ask for Dennis Davis... he is the diesel tech there and has done my truck now twice for this same thing. He did not need to be prompted... he know exactly how to set the option.

They have not ever questioned anything I wanted and have been willing to learn too if need be.
