Mike,

It could be your muffler. Mine had an annoying whine (most noticable under acceleration). Went away when my muffler chased the kitty into the woods. #ad

I took a piece of hose, it was actually washing machine drain hose, cut a slit in it length wise, slipped it over the AC hose and attached with a few cable ties. It will at least take longer to wear though now, which has happened to some folks.

Hi all,
I'm still new with the 12valve thing, and have a couple of questions. '95 2wd auto.

The first is a whistling sound while the engine is at 1800-2000rpm's. Doesn't matter if it's powering up through the gears or steady cruising... the noise is there. The 98-99 24 valve engines had this same whistle sound, and it came from the heater hose fitting at the cylinder head. Anyone know if it's the same thing causing it on a 12v?

The second question is the A/C pressure switch resting against the lower rubber intercooler hose. Have any of you guys had a problem with it rubbing through? When I was shopping for a 94-95,every truck I looked at had the pressure switch resting against the hose. One truck had a ripped boot. What can I do to space it away from the hose?

Thanks for the tip radixr,I'll have to see if it goes away when the stock muffler and kitty go away.

Illflem,
Actually, the line already has the protective sleeve on it. But it's not the A/C line that I'm worried about... it's the A/C pressure switch rubbing against the intercooler hose I'm worried about. The only thing I can think of is to carefully bend the line to space the switch away from the intercooler hose. Just wondering if anybody else did that.

My truck ('98 12V) had the same problem with the A/C pressure switch rubbing hard on the boost hose. I just jentlely bent the A/C line away a bit, very easy. The hose had some damage but does not seem to be leaking. Looks like this is a common problem judging by the other postes. Must be a production flaw. If any of you have not checked this you better take a look. It's on the passenger side first boost hose after the turbo down below the oil filter.

Mike,
First question . Could it be a vacuum leak? Is all your components that use vacuum working?

Missouri,
All the vacuum components are fine. I had the wife rev the eninge while I stood by and it turns out it is the exhaust.
