Fellas,

I've got an Edge Mileage Max gathering dust in my garage and I thought about stacking it with my Smarty. Does anyone know what the Mileage Max does, does it alter timing or what? No,I haven't asked Edge about it.

Second question,I'll need to upgrade my lift pump soon since I'm still running the original OEM pump and want to go with a FASS or Air Dog system with replaceable filters. Do both have built in heaters for winter? I need a pump/filter system with a heater since I live in AK and prefer to drive winter months. I don't ever plan on racing or hooking up to a sled. I may go with slightly bigger injectors and turbo before we start RVing this summer. What size fuel pump should I go with? There are so many choices available and opinions at the parts store are like..... well you know. Any differences between the FASS and Air Dog?

Thanks-Casey

I know in the 2nd Gen mileage max does timing only. I'm not sure about the CR mileage max, but I can say the Smarty will do whatever you want, pressure and or timing. No need for both.

Niether the Air Dog or FASS have electric heaters. The FASS has a coolant port for engine coolant. FASS and Air Dog are very similiar. Pay close attention to filter selection. Any good after market pump will be sufficient for your needs.

Your gonna run into an issue if you really need a good heater as I am unaware of a good heater for any of the aftermarket pumps/filter "kits". I have a Raptor pump to a stock filter (with heater) and a Stanadyne FM1000 with a really good heater. But as I found out later it only has 5 micron absolute filtration (even though Donaldson sell a 2 micron filter (it's nominal).

The max mileage is a rail pressure box. If you call edge they will tell you timing/duration which is a stretch to conceal that its a pressure box. Pressure boxes get negative press since they are hard on the injectors, but are the easiest way to get a little mileage. If you want to run it then be sure to get an extra fuel filter, or two first!

Neither the FASS or AD has a built in heater. FASS sells a heater, or you can plumb coolant into it. The FASS Titanium is the one to get if you want to use coolant.

If you get the AD the filters that come on it aren't the best available, you need a Baldwin BF1275 and a Donaldson P551315. I would still plumb either of them thru the stock canister.
