Courtesy or dome lights replacement

The two push on/push off dome or courtesy lights (not sure the correct term) in the overhead console are apparently on their way out. Im having a difficult time locating the OEM replacement. Has anyone replaced with something other than OEM that was better? They were factory LED and seemed fairly cheap and not too bright anyway.

I changed mine out last year. I want to say the replacements are T10s but not sure while writing this. Follow the video above. Now I can change the bulbs by simply popping out the lense. I didn’t replace the entire assembly, just the bulbs. Took about 30 minutes. To get everything out and back together. If you just replace the bulbs, they are led and therefore there is polarity, so if they don’t work, you may have to rotate them 180*.

Took everything apart today. Will try to find some bulbs tomorrow. Here are a few pics of everything taken apart. Like A Reagan posted above, I’ll be able to just pop out the lenses & replace the bulbs.

This is a video on the T-10 Types. You will need the “forward” facing emitters meaning that the light comes out of the end of the bulb, primarily.

I bought mine from Headlight Revolution. They are are made by GTR. GTR Lighting T10/194/168 CANBUS LED.

I DONT KNOW IF THE CANBUS requirement is necessary, but, this allows them to dim and come up to brightness slowly. headlight Revolution is expensive and there are better deals out there for sure. I was in a bind. However, the lights I got are great LEDs.

These don’t do the dimming as far as I can tell but they work perfectly for what I was looking for. They had 3 different colors... Amber (194A), cool white (194 in different packaging and about $6 le), and these 6000k bright white (194).

Yessir, those are fine. The dimming is not a big deal to me. Mine are CANBUS compatible but I don’t think the slow dim is necessary. Now I can pop off the lense and change the bulb if I need to without removing the entire overhead cover.

All I can say is WOW. It’s extremely bright compared to the old ones. Wish I’d done this a long time ago!

Got it done today. Both lights were burned out. I found these at the local NAPA. I didn't want super bright lights, I just wanted lights.
