Is there a way to make sure the cowl area/space/chambers are free from debris for drainage? Happy Father's day to the Dads in the club!

The drain openings are rather large so it would take quite a bit to get plugged off. Any debris that is large enough or has somehow accumulated, could eventually plug up the drains. If that happens, you will start having water get inside the cab and rotting out the floor pans. The only way I think it could happen is if you were to park under a tree for a couple of years.

Here's a couple of closeup pics I found online that show just how big the opening is. You can literally fit your fingers up inside to feel around.

I can't figure out where this view is located. Have you seen this angle? Thank you for resources. Patrick

Those pics were of a totally stripped cab that was for sale on eBay. This pic is of the hole that you have to stick your hand in and feel back towards the cab. There is about an inch wide gap that you can stick your fingers into and feel around for anything that may be in there. Both sides have the same opening. The only other way to access them is to remove the fenders.

When I changed my wiper bushings, I cleaned out the cowl area. Easy to get to with the wiper cowl removed. You can stick a vacuum hose down in there. Mine was full of leaves, but thankfully somebody had the good sense to have the truck Ziebarted back in '93, so there was no rot down there.

I did the same earlier this year when I needed a new wiper bushing. Used a screwdriver to loses up dirt and debris and vacuumed it out while the cowl was off.

Mine were literally full if pine tree leaves when I bought it. The cowl is not hard to get off, but is a pain to get back on.

Sucked it clean with a vacuum when I had the fenders, hood and cowl off.
