I need some insight on this problem. My dads 03 got to the point where it would barely start. Took it in to dealer for a lift pump. They said that they "rebuilt" the pump and that fixed him up. I wondered why they didnt replace it with the in tank pump? Any way, three days later, truck would not start at all. Hauled it to dealer, they pulled tank and turns out the fuel looked like orange juice! Turns out gas in the fuel, and the only place he fuels up is the 1000 gal tank at our shop. So oil distr. now involved in this mess. Dealer called today and said all was fixed. Cleaned tank, new lift pump in tank, went to parking lot to leave and it would not start. Plenty of fuel coming out of filter to CP3. Started when we bumped it with ether but quickly quit running. Dealer kid raised the rail pressure to 27,000psi and Set two codes one of which was fuel pressure sensor, and I was unsure of the other Did that gas kill the CP3 or is that our problem?? Any opinions???

It's possible if a lot of gas went through it that the CP-3 died. But the problem sounds more like a rail pressure relief valve leaking to me.

If gas went through it for very long it may need pump and injectors. The only way to properly diagnose is to run the fuel bypass tests, or run the procedure from the fuel diagnosis TSB.
